Alec Steele Blacksmith 2019
Stanko is actual name in ex Yugoslavia.
Why not splice some cable?
That material would be asbestos rope fire guard
I've enjoyed the fixing of the machines , just as much as your forging 😊
You must have nerves of steel. I wouldn’t get underneath a giant power that could crush you at any moment
8:07 i am not an expert but try a cork plate with glue thick 2 Cm,or 1 Cm,depend if it fits.Good luck!
5:41 wow carefull you're giving me flashbacks
Fantastic
He looks like the kid off Meet The Robinsons
Where do you get your knife/hammer steel at in the uk
That is one hefty corkscrew o.O
Alec, how about making the Spanish Conquistador sword.
Where are you Alec ??? Been over a week now !
"Some kind of slavic plea"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Slavic plea you say? Ilya Alekseyev over at That Works might be able to help
Dear Mr. Steele Hope you would consider me as your next apprentice . Sincerely Jay wolfenbarger
Hey Alec you should make a video about fly presses. I don't know if you have one in your shop, but they seem really cool from what I've read. They are also a much more accessible alternative to doing a lot of the cool work you usually do that people without a power hammer can't do. They are also really neat in how they use mechanical advantage and levers to use human strength to move steel. I feel like its the sort of thing you'd really like.
just add extra cable to the short ones?
Love this kid! A blacksmith and a power hammer mechanic. Who knew?! 🤣👍🏼😎
Alec, in the US, at Tractor Supply Store, you can get a Stall Mat, it's for Horse stalls, its 1/4" fiberglass reinforced rubber, it's dense without a lot of give. May work perfect for you fix.
hey man, I've been on the way side, doing my own things, I come back and you are curling a thin piece in a way I've never expected before. You've grown, as slow and steady (as it is in life), I hope you can see your skill has leveled up.
Reminds me of Ward 2A lathe restoration, the bed is bolted to the headstock pedestal up through the pedestal and there are no access ports, you have to jack the whole body up. Love the videos.
Alex moving back to the UK huh
Stanko whispering: прикончи меня, британец. я должен разбить сталь
If you don't call the powerhamer Steelin it's a missed opportunity
Круто. Откуда наш молот в штатах появился?
Why am I getting new notifications for old videos?
I absolutely love this content. Ny favourite show as a kid was how it’s made and this has a feeling like that. I’m never going to get my hands on these kinds of machines and to be able to explore each ones eccentricity is so fun. Can’t wait for more
Well you certainly have a beautiful power hammer there, hope everything can be fixed with little stress.
What did I hear at 3:52?
Paint it to look like a nutcracker because reasons.
Alec, do you have chain falls or come alongs to help you rigging some of the equipment?
You should try doing a Damascus pattern to look like the dark saber from the mandalorian
You should try making a Twisted Domestic Tungsten sword I think that would be a real challenge for you but I believe in you @Alecsteele
so when is you and your wife going to figure out how to paint this
Too bad I saw this too late. My company specializes in rubber. Could have got you a discount.
Recommend horse trailer/stall matting for your power hammer gasket.
why did alec go back to the uk
Could you make an Ar15 lower out of Damascus 🤔🤔
Anyone know the name of the first song
7:05 reminds me of when Tony Stark was creating the new element in his workshop
solder the wires so they are longer?
You better paint that soviet star red i'll Riot otherwise
Absolute love your programme .Well interested in your work .is there any way you can show us how to make a decent heat forge for beginner's
Is there any way you can forge a damascus pizza roller cutter??
The problem is that someone lit the stank out
Can you make a Damascus waterbong?
why is Alec not in the USA anymore? did i miss a video or 5?
Tenner that foam lasts a couple years
Where do you find these hammers at
9” grinders are still legal in the UK? So dangerous, you don’t see many in Australian workshops these days
You can use conveyor belt for the matt.
Try and make a titanium damascus
This was super satisfying to watch.
The mat under the sow block almost looks like heavy conveyor belt rubber. It's tough stuff. Usually has some sort of nylon woven fabric inside. If you know anyone that works in a manufacturing facility like pulp and paper it's the same belt they use on their conveyor system to transport the pulp wood to the digesters. They change those belts out and usually have rolls left over of the used belts. They may be able to get you some. Friend of mine got some to use as mats in his horse stalls and they held up great.
You & mrs steele need to repaint this one!
WD40 will ALWAYS be your friend
I would be ecstatic to see you help Will with setting up his shop when you come back to the US, assuming he needs it. After all, we've watched you build 3 shops so far.
7:00 The next 15 seconds in just audio sound quite.... fascinating.
Is there any power hammer in the world that doesn't need 400 hours of restoration?
The matting looks very much like conveyor belt
10:35 This Russia dude! Love it though.
Stanko.
Really loving these old power hammer rebuilds. Can't wait to see the cool paintjob you put on this one when done. FYI. Should look at getting some kopr-kote or nickle grade anti seize to put on those old and new bolt up. Works a million times better than oil or grease to keep corrosion down.
Your sponsor time is the best explanation always. Thx brother.
Stay cheeki breeki
Just buy a new power hammer, its cost sponsers £x00,000, im just trying to buy a bit of old rusty history to restore. 3axis dovetail, it has been thrown out , in a pile of old engines,
Never a dull day for you Alec. Happy New Year when it comes and all the best for 2021 😃👍
Gosh dang Alec, there was something just so.... Damn satisfying with the little touch up you did, both changing the mat and re-adding that link up. And the motor was spinning so smoothly!~ Gorgeous, gorgeous thing! Hope you can fix it all up to your satisfaction and it serve you for many many years~
You are a lucky sob how did that unthread
Nice video, thanks ! Wouldn't be better to fix the motor with large traction spring? So the tension would stay approx. the same over time ?
His voice crack at 0:09
🗡
Just don't go moving the power hammer around on a pallet. We all know what happens when you do that..... Too soon? lol X'D
You do realize you have to make a sickle cos its a Russian power hammer 👊
i feel like you should have gotten the german power hammer
I bet a couple trailer jacks would be good for lifting that block next time/
Alec, first off I just started watching your videos and I enjoy them very much. I have a question a power hammer what is it exactly doing to the metal.
Builds tray for hammer. Continues to lay hammer on anvil.
why just not extend current wires for Stanok? Michael will take just 10 cm wires and solder them to current one. It's just take 2 cigarettes to make, Jesus Alec, you wanna work with Soviet machine - start thinking like Soviet guy...
Is it possible to use rubber pit belt on the power hammer... I am no black Smith but I thought it might do the trick and it don't cost a bomb to get ya hands on it.. always enjoy the vids u put up..
I miss Will already. :(
Turas math dhuibh Will, see you on your own channel :)
Conveyor belt matting would do the job nicely.
Nickel cadium those bolts you can do it at home electric engraving
Please buy some 4ah or 5ah batteries for ryobi tools. And a single 9ah for your angle grinder and circular saw.
Alec.... could you do a Damascus.... H. D. Smith perfect handle tool? I am willing to send you one for reference.
In Russia power hammer is power hammer
I mean, to be fair, it IS an old Soviet hammer, of course it's jank as blyat.
@7:55 thats what we call in the heavy lift industry.. JACK AND PACK baby :)
Wait, I think we know how this story ends, don't do it!
why do blacksmiths on youtube always seem to be buying OLD powerhammers?
Don’t try to move this one on a pallet with a pallet jack 😂
You should do a longer video on the power hammer restoration.
Please film more repairs. I wouldn't mind watching you do the repairs and then add voice over during the edits.
Dang. It must feel so good to be able to fix your power tools like that.
I love the voice crack at the start when he said power hammer
You lift it by hiring 2 Russian Body Builders to pick it up.
Ok, but don't tip it over and shatter it on the ground, pls.
Thomas the Stank Hammer.
