  • Hey Alec you should make a video about fly presses. I don't know if you have one in your shop, but they seem really cool from what I've read. They are also a much more accessible alternative to doing a lot of the cool work you usually do that people without a power hammer can't do. They are also really neat in how they use mechanical advantage and levers to use human strength to move steel. I feel like its the sort of thing you'd really like.

  • The mat under the sow block almost looks like heavy conveyor belt rubber. It's tough stuff. Usually has some sort of nylon woven fabric inside. If you know anyone that works in a manufacturing facility like pulp and paper it's the same belt they use on their conveyor system to transport the pulp wood to the digesters. They change those belts out and usually have rolls left over of the used belts. They may be able to get you some. Friend of mine got some to use as mats in his horse stalls and they held up great.

  • Really loving these old power hammer rebuilds. Can't wait to see the cool paintjob you put on this one when done. FYI. Should look at getting some kopr-kote or nickle grade anti seize to put on those old and new bolt up. Works a million times better than oil or grease to keep corrosion down.
