Alec Steele Blacksmith 2020
This came out way better then i thought ! Amazing
Read my bible💪
Why in the hell are y’all splitting up? It seems like y’all would try and preserve such a good thing I’m gonna miss the shop more than anything!
3:44 hairline cracks 😳
“A traditional...ish”
It is really beautiful. One of my favorite so far
Suomalainen kunnon puukko Finnish real puukko
Rudolph is gonna be just fine. Because Will will be busy looking at just how awesome his knife is.
What a beautiful knife, bro. Amazing
That looks amazing!
Kickass knife, bro!
Hang on, this isn‘t Alec
Will's a cool guy

OK
Pretty knarly piece to finnish on before leaving the shop mate. That's a thing of beauty
How much for it
nice touch with the leather handle. traditionally birch bark is used. the tang is made slightly sharp to a point then you just push down strips of bark on the tang and shape them afterwards - either by cutting or sanding. you might also consider a paint on the birch bark afterwards for a nice finnish ;p
Now you need to make the traditional wooden sheath
ahh yes the legendary, phuukho. ette te jenkkiläiset edes yritä sanoo näitä sanoja, ei ota kun 3 sekunttia googlata mitenkä sanoa puukko suomeksi
Can i have it?
the secondary bevel on the scandy grind is cringy
Bees wax or tokono paste would be great to finish off leather
did you take your inspiration from that old documantary published by Northmen on youtube?
Oh, it seems you did not
That's a badass knife. Consider using boiled linseed oil for a more historically accurate finish.
you just made that leather handle pointless with that glue.
Perkele!
Well done Will
If y'all arent selling this, send this to DBK! They love puukkos, and such a crossover would be amazing. Edit: Damn that thing is a beauty... Maybe dont let the dbk boys destroy it
You should make a big Sami knife some day
Very Cool 🇩🇪🙋♂️✌️👌👍
I am so sorry Jamie, that macbook catastrophe must have annoyed you... And yes, I am joking - I am glad, that you are ok. I hope, that your close ones too... Without you, these awesome videos would not be as awesome. ;-) But admit it, you've been more upset by that then by getting covid. :-D (And yes, I actually know, that I am jerk sometimes...) :-D
They would usually make the handles out of birch bark by stacking it up without glue.
Interesting video and good looking Puukko. No one hunts reindeer with a knife, greetings from Finland 👌
Why does it feel like your camera man always drunk? :S
Puukko mainittu puukko mentioned
My Cusin is a Chief and has a book on Gluten free cooking. He is the same as you.
perkele
Perkele
Rudolf better watch out
Food free
One substance that is commonly used for finishing leather and getting it to buff to a nice shine is gum tragacanth.
I love these kids that have a complete shop with $100,000 worth of machine tools and a forge. Yeah, that happens every day.
Wonder what happend to this guy one day here next gone nothing on his channel
Another practical tried and tested design, ruined by using pattern welded steel.
@ 0:35... made me 😊 you are awesome!

Absolutely amazing Will. Best of luck to ya.
Suomi Perkele!
If only he made a puukko correctly with a stacked birch bark handle instead of stacked leather; it would of added to the contrast of the pattern of the blade.
Read your Bible haha
Beautiful pattern!! What a piece.... !!
Will, please keep making more videos from your own workshop. I will miss Steele vs stelter
that’s a clean ass knife
i think birch bark is more traditional material to use on puukko handle. I have seen also full leather handles but usually those are like more festive puukko's.
OMG!!!!!!! Fantastic! Great job!
Next level work on the damascus.
so good
Puukko means knife in finnish
Torille!
LOVE Will’s work. Jc
Where’s Alec steele
Exellent workmanship. As a finn, i would be happy to carry a puukko like that.
Puukko is finnish language.
What is he doing at 07:41 ?
Nice but not really a puukko, blade is wrong. It should have flat back and edge on one side only.
id like to see an omage to your partnership with a steele stelter patters damascust that is litterally comrised of S's in the pattern and the spine and sides textured with your marks
Wow beautiful!!
Do americans actually read their bible while eating cereals... thats wackd
@Kaleb Short poorly written fiction
What’s a bible
I would love to buy one of your knives Will. Put up a link when you have a store set up!
Hahaha cool to know you did one last video and showed up for the video 🤣 Cool stuff. And READ YOUR BIBLE? BROTHER!!! AWESOME!!!
what kind of super glue did he use?
cant wait until someone figures out how to make authentic damascus steel again. (I mean, it has carbon nanotubes in it! what?!)
4:12 If puff pastry were steel...
leather wrap handle? Bitch please! leather BLOCK handle!!!!
The first 10 seconds is why we love you Will.
HELEVETTI SOIKKOON
A very beautiful knife. Usually easier to just punch the hole in the leather on piece at the time (that's how it was traditionally done) and the proper way to finish the handle is with oils and wax. Still, the end result is very pretty.
Greetings from finland: PERKELE ku o hieno ei saatana
Beautiful looking knife
Will won't see us on the next one... and he's back.... on the very next one LOL
Wow! What a beautiful pattern!
Beautiful Blade
thats a good looking knife. but thats not a puukko. its never made in damascus, tho sometimes made san mai style. the decorative patterns made by melting wax on the blade and carving that, then etching it deep. its always forged to shape with very little grinding, the forging supposedly making it stronger. the spine of the blade is never sharp, the use of the knife is generally whittling wood and some of the common techniques for it require you to press the blade down with your fingers from the spine. the tang is much thinner with a sharp tip, the purpose of that being you impale birch bark on it without tearing them in half. the handle material is generally that birch bark, tho stacking it is sortof the proper way. there is no glue between the slices of birch bark. the fittings are generally brass. usually engraved. while the handles are usually finished with (sometimes dyed) varnish, they arent that hard, i feel like supergluing the handles makes it much harder. the birch bark is sortof fairly rubbery, much like cork without all the holes.
The pattern on that knife is STUNNING! Great work!
Has Alex ever made armour? Or shields?
I've never seen a puukko like that, but it looks amazing. Also hunting reindeer would be like hunting your neighbours cows lol.
Really enjoyed the different videography in this video in particular
That pattern though! WOW
Press F to pay respects for macbook
The hell who drinks coffe with a bowl of cereal lol
what happen to his accent
That's a nice puukko! Just going to point out that the ones used for gutting game or fish usually have a small lip/bump (whatever you call it) that stops your fingers from slipping into the blade =)
Nice can you make a OTF knife?
Отличная работа но дох...я пиздежа
Folks! Alec is going to TV. Let’s wish him well an$ welcome him back to NOtown. He will return.
I saw the new live show. Alec was good doing that as a newcomer. Doing that format again was a kick in the head. This NOtown format of doing projects is better granted freeing Willy is necessary. Alec I hope you decide to stay in the U.S. you’d make a fine addition to the citizenry.
Ah yes, the knife knife from scandinavia that didn't exist until this video was posted. Could it be that just saying "Making A Finnish Puukko" was too difficult of a title to put out there? Perhaps.
"Scandinavian"... It's Alec hunting season 😂
Will you should make those and sell them at your new shop.
