Alec Steele Blacksmith 2020
Make the dagger from once apon a time please its my favourite dagger
"a little thickness at the tip is handy" - what she said
Our dogs have the same bed haha
Ahh angle grinding on the lathe yyyyyyy
what's the song at 1:10?
Nothing like a bit of thickness at the tip lol.
😩😪 how boring has this channel become. Used to love Alec but ever since he moved to the states things have gone down hill. Now he's come back things have dipped further! Annoying shaky camera and weird angles, really? Thought you'd recruited an GCSE videography student. I don't know what this channel has turned into. Won't be returning to find out anyways. Time to unsubscribe me thinks.
Do you have the measurements of that dager before heat treat?
Thickness at the tip is handy, noted.
From the instagram pictures I was expecting a Kraken like handle. The tips kinda looks like the head of a calamari, and the rest of the handle like it's tentacles screwing around the hilt. It does look cool though.
I think it’s kind of funny that half of his shots are pano
What happened? Very disappointed to see projects go from being forged to being manufactured.
No whack whack? I go to TOT if I want to watch machining :/
Can someone fill me in on why will isn’t with Alec anymore? Been gone from youtube for awhile
Hey Alec, love your content! I was wondering, what software do you use to sketch out your drawings (like the one at 0:56)?
I swear, this guy eats his cereal with monster energy instead of milk
mm are back baby
When did the kid from chicken little start forgery
My god the cinematography at 5:00 is impeccable. Mint
Where is that museum?
I thought you were a blacksmith...
Wait... Dykem Red spray?... you heathen!
Another phenomenal video! I'm excited to see the final product.
Is this a *stock-removal* project? Why aren't you forging it?
Why are you no longer working with will?
Wouldn't the sudden narrowing of the blade just above the handle dramatically weaken it? I remember hearing something about how doing that in a sword made is much, much weaker than if it had been narrow all the way down, due to the way the stress propagated.
I usually like to wait a while then I binge all your videos 😂
Is that Red Dykem you’re using Alec?
I came from Bobby’s colab- Am I crazy or does he sound WAY more British here than in that video?
I bought your Steele brush. I figured by the time I went through the time and effort to make one myself it would probably cost me more than just buying yours. Well, besides it would be cool to have something of yours.
I miss the forging stuff
What? The great Alex Steel making a mistake! That hardly ever happens......more than five times on any one part of any one project.
Think you should try and make an estimation/replica of the Sutton Hoo sword as thats all very topical at the moment. Also looks like it would be a huuuge challenge!
I stopped watching for awhile, you where more interested in selling stuff than making weapons. The weapons are literally the only reason I subscribe.
which steels can i temper with a torch i know i can use 1045 but what else
What computer are you using to draw on ?
There's something great that happens when a man finds a wife. He finds a certainty and confidence that can be found nowhere else but with a woman. Praise God for the union of marriage!
not gonna lie, angle grinder on the lathe looks cringe worthy
Omg its going to be beautiful! Can I buy that? Probably not, I'm broke...
Red Dycam?
Check this out. I created a sword in my head. I can see it fully. I just have no forging skills or any artistic ability. 1080 steel for the 3 foot long blade with a fuller and 12.5 inches for the tang. Mild steel oval guard measuring 6 inches long by 4 inches wide by 1/2 inch thick. Handle made of oak wrapped in leather measuring 8.5 inches long. A 3 inch wide, 1/2 inch thick disc pommel at the back also made of mild steel. The last 1/2 inch of the tang is for peening over to make the back of the sword tight. Embellishments include the phrase "Death awaits all who oppose this blade.," in Latin down the fuller from tip to guard. Demons and dragons on the flats. 2 dragons chasing each other around the guard separated by 2 rubies at the apexes. A human skull minus mandible with rubies for eyes on one side of the pommel. On the other is a demon skull with 4 horns, and elongated narrow triangular jaw also with rubies for eyes. As you can tell, i've spent time on this thing in my head. All comments welcome.
What's the name of the book, because it looks very interesting :)
I'm wondering if that handle would have come out better by forging a nice piece if steel and then twisting it into the required shape???
If you screw it up badly enough, just call it modern art.
the STEELE STILETTO..
red? still? Alec do we need to stage an intervention?
Red paint, not blue? Oh how you have changed
am i the only one who noticed he showed his IP adress in the sponsorship part
if you fail at making a work of art, is it a fart?
What book was it?
So, they have red Dykem in spray cans in the UK, eh?
Anyone get massive Hugh Grant vibes from the way Alex speaks and his pauses
Alec did we deport you. Come back, Merica loves you.
I miss Will breaking blades
i hate Clips with to many parts, Alec since you make it this Way , i watch lless clips
Red dycecon? Who are you and what have you done with Alec
Thats a very durable butt plug you've made
Red dykum where’s the blue???
Enjoy the different episodes, but i wonder about one thing; All the Grinding. As a Shipbuilder myself, working over 10 years in a shipyard, building by standards of the 80./90. decent sized bulkcarriers and tankers (around 100 000 Gross tonnage/GT). Every surface had to be "mirror glossy" before paint, but not even inside the cargo tanks, have i seen so much grinding. So much waste of material. Nowadays you even have plasmacutters and so on, but you still end up with half of your material on the floor, must spend fortunes on belts..
You should do some Assassins Creed weapons😎
Alex Steele episodes are the Dragon Ball Z of NOtown series.
I love watching Alec Steele because he is one of few smiths I've seen on YT who actually forge their pieces and don't just use a grinder to "forge" their work. Thank you for your talent and hard work Alec! :)
If anyone wanted the lathe track its called mess up by gabriel eli 💪🏻
I'd have liked some more forging.
2:44 you should make a Damascus steel sharpener, not just the blade the hole sharpener
I had to be away from all connectivity for two weeks. Now that I am back I am glad I started with this one. Can someone please tell Will we waiting for his next video.
I looked up the book for purchase and its like 177 usd thats insane
I missed these. You know it's gonna be a bad ass time when they throw this music in.
Hey Alec, I have been watching your videos for quite a while and love your work. I am interested in a sword made by you. How can I contact you and do you do special orders?
hi alec when your in the uk where do you get you metal from?
A quand une épée tirée d’un jeu vidéo légendaire de type Zelda ocarina of Time ? Sinon tes réalisations sont vraiment superbes 🤩
Why... didn't he actually forge anything...? Feels very non-Alec really. Kind of seems like taking shortcuts and takes away from the genuine-ness and craft of the blade.
5:00 Alec: Also, I haven't gotten any decent wood in yet, in fact the only material I've got to work with in my shop at the moment is steel, so that's what I'm going with.
Can you please try to go on a new episode of forged in fire?!?
Fyi, 11L44 steel machines almost as easily as brass. So worth picking up a bar if you decide to start over. Unfortunately it also rusts as soon as you look away, so plating the final part would be a good idea. (got a lot of sulfur, phosphorus, and lead to lubricate tools and form chips easier, but they sure don't help vs rust.)
Anyone notice that hes using red dye chem now?
Can you build a Brier wood and Damascus tobacco pipe?
Why he is not in Montana ??
I look forward to witnessing you become a true master of your craft. I can't wait to see your master piece.
Please turn on the closed captions! Deaf subscriber here.
Pretty sure smith are meant to smith things... you lazy bugger, you just cut that blade and ground it.... go turn your forge on you bugger.
Title should have been "Blonde Harry Potter forges the Dagger of Gryffindor"
Without forging any parts of it?
You need to do a build with Kyle Royer wether you do a special on your channel or his or even better on both
Does anyone know were any open forges are if you don’t have one at home
I would really like to see Alex make a full body armor. It would be a fantastic multi episode project!
You should make solid copper knife
If we can draw anything from the last few videos that evolution chop saw is a beast!
Have you considered attempting to forge copper beryllium alloy? I'm really curious to see how it behaves under the hammer. Would it crumble easily like brass? Or is it ductile enough to shape? Will it work harden? Does it anneal the same way copper would? Could make an interesting and educational video.
Hey alec i've seen some 4th Bat flags in the background of some of your older videos, just curious how your associated with 160th
'a little extra thickness at the tip, is handy'. I feel you bro. So does my lady.
What happened to the Blue Dykem?
What glasses is he wearing in this video?
Hi there, you're probably thinking "This is part 1, but I wish I could see part 2 already. I bet Alec is up to filming part 12 right about now..." Which may very well be true. But, more likely is that right at the instant you are reading this sentence, Alec has just accidentally broken the blade in half (which he has spent the last 5 weeks working on while attempting to fix a minor issue that no one else would have even noticed if he hadn't pointed it out), and he has now decided to start over from scratch. So expect part 2 some time in June maybe? XD
Michael Knowles, anyone?
Is Alec slowly losing his British accent?
Give an update on will if you would do like a face time call
You should make it out of Damascus
oops, don't grind, that's better
don't gride a fuller, use the press before hardening
Grow a beard
